Maggie's Garden 24"x30"

$900.00

2023

24”x30” acrylic/mixed media on thick canvas

Growing up, my beloved grandmother, Maggie tended a huge kitchen garden Grandpa plowed for her just outside the back door. It was rich with delicious food that fed us all. She used to hand wash and iron the thick cotton sheets on our bed at the farm. They were so stiff they were crunchy when my sister and I first crawled in shivering.

Anyway, this painting has all of that in it and also the sound of mourning doves in the grove, taste of home-canned peaches, green fields and rich black Minnesota ‘bottom-land’ soil. It’s pure love to me.
