Wasn’t totally sure about this one till I stretched it and hung it on the wall. I feel good about it now even in its dark saturation. It was painted during a workshop in Santa Fe. The mysticism of the high desert lands and people, gorgeous ever-changing skies, red soil, fragrant sage, bright yellow chamisa in full bloom. This FEELS like Santa Fe. The wise words of my friend/mentor ‘step back’ ‘honor your marks’ ‘listen with one deaf ear’ ‘accept your voice’ ‘go back in with the same energy’ ‘tread lightly’ ‘challenge yourself’ echo in my heart every time I’m with this work.
